Summer Day Camp

Summer is such an exciting time for all, as we enjoy beautiful weather, special outings and extra activities that can't be enjoyed at other times of the year.  At Maranatha Schoolhouse, we recognize that for some families, having quality care for their children is required year-round, and therefore Summer Day Camp is a great option.  Knowing their children are doing something fun, stimulating and inspiring each day brings great
peace of mind to working parents.

Below are the weekly themes that Maranatha Summer Day Camp offers, with a brief description of each.  Each theme runs for a two week period, enabling families to pick and choose the theme(s) that most interest their child(ren), and to keep every week interesting for those who are coming throughout the entire summer.  Camp runs 9am-3pm (with "after hours" available for an added fee) for three days per week, Tuesdays to Thursdays. Our program is geared to the interest of ages 5 to 12 years old. Cost of $135/week includes all supplies.

Arts & Crafts
Tuesday, July 5 to Thursday, July 14

What child doesn't enjoy expressing themselves through the means of creativity?  Experimenting with various means of art creativity, your child will come to discover perhaps for the first time, a hidden gift within him/her. We will enjoy learning about the therapeutic value of arts and the uniqueness of each individual's way of applying the arts.  We will dabble with the paints, constructive art, various craft materials and more.

The Path
Tuesday, July 19 to Thursday, July 28

This experience teaches the children that they were each created uniquely by God and with a purpose.  They each have their own strengths and talents/gifts.  Through fun activities, they will learn more about their own desires, their dislikes, their preferred love language, their God-given gifts and who they are in God's eyes. What child doesn't need a boost to their self-esteem once in a while.  This is a very special and essential week for any child lacking confidence, but also suitable for all.

Shine Like the Stars
Tuesday, August 2 to Thursday, August 11

A look at the wonders of our galaxy, the beauty of stars, the wonders of our planets and the appreciation for our own world, will have your child seeing life in a whole new way. To realize how big the universe is and yet God loved each one of them enough to place them here at this time and in this very place. That realization is sure to awaken some new appreciation for life, and the people within. With the kind of pressure children have experienced in the last two years, this theme will bring back hope, joy and peace in knowing there is a powerful  God who holds all this together.

Acting Out
Tuesday, August 16 to Thursday, August 25

Acting out is a favourite activity among children when given that option.  Applying drama as a means to express oneself is beneficial in many ways.  Attending drama camp will provide your child with many skills that will be used to their advantage throughout life. It will bolster their confidence, bring ease in communicating publicly and respect for the importance of holding one's responsibilities to a team. Many children who are typically seen as shy, come out of themselves when given opportunity to act. A drama piece will be rehearsed throughout this two-week camp and presented to the parents at the end of the camp season.
